1. Old Garrison Marker
Inscription. Was located on this lot on the flats near the creek and was the fourth fortress erected in Franklin during the Indian Wars. It was built in 1796, occupied by United States troops until 1799, was kept in repair until the organization of Venango County in 1805 and was utilized as a jail until 1819, - when the first regular jail was built on South Park. The works remained in fair state of preservation until 1834. Part of the ruins were visible as late as 1885 and were removed by the present owner.
