Veterans Memorial Park. . , In April 1919, Cheboygan County purchased this property with the sole purpose of creating a Veterans Memorial Park. By July of that year the work to create this park was largely completed. The first memorial plaque, listing the names of those who lost their lives in the Great War, was placed on Memorial Day, 1925. Additional plaques were placed after subsequent conflicts to remember those from Cheboygan County lost on the field of battle., Nearly 100 years after it was constructed. a group of veterans formed a committee dedicated to improving and updating this century-old park. Through the generosity of the local community, substantial renovations and additions were added to honor those Cheboygan County veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice., In memoriam to all those who have served and especially to those who made the ultimate sacrifice and who are remembered here this monument is dedicated may the souls of those who gave their lives preserving our freedom rest in peace, Spanish American War Day, Carlton . In April 1919, Cheboygan County purchased this property with the sole purpose of creating a Veterans Memorial Park. By July of that year the work to create this park was largely completed. Additional plaques were placed after subsequent conflicts to remember those from Cheboygan County lost on the field of battle.

Nearly 100 years after it was constructed. a group of veterans formed a committee dedicated to improving and updating this century-old park. Through the generosity of the local community, substantial renovations and additions were added to honor those Cheboygan County veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice.
