Solo Swims Of Ontario was formed in 1975 in response to an order in council of the Government of Ontario as the governing body to ensure the safety of solo log distance swims in Ontario.

Solo swims and the swimmers wish to extend their appreciation to the boat captains, support crews and family who have helped make these swims possible.

In 1954, at age 16, Marilyn Bell's unprecedented crossing of Lake Ontario captured a nation's heart. The courageous few that followed are recorded here to inspire others to emulate her achievement.
