Before you stands the beautiful "Devil's Punchbowl Wildlife" Civic Art mural, painted by artist Aaron Morse in 2020 in collaboration with the L.A. County Arts Commission. Originally created for Devil's Punchbowl Natural Area, a sister facility to Vasquez Rocks, it is a tribute to the sweeping beauty of the landscapes, scenery, plants and wildlife of the Punchbowl. Tragically in September of 2020, the Devil's Punchbowl Nature Center and much of the park burned in the Bobcat fire, just before the mural was set to be installed. Following long-term park closures, a fitting home was found nestled among the junipers at Vasquez Rocks, where it was installed in June, 2021. Dedicated to the memory of the beloved nature center and stands of old-growth piñon pines, we hope you fine a sense of joy and wonder as you take in the beauty of this work.

Key to species interpreted in this mural (most of which occur at Vasquez Rocks):

2. Western Fence Lizard
