2. Hannie Schaft Memorial
Description: Hannie Schaft was a university student when she was forced to sign her support for the Nazis, however when she refused she was forced to leave and then she joined the Dutch resistance. She began with small acts such as stealing ID cards, but then began to become more violent. She carried out murder against Nazi collaborators, and was considered very dangerous by the enemy. She was a hunted woman, and to convince her to give herself up the Germans even arrested her parents…However she was eventually captured, and then was held in prison in Amsterdam. Shortly before World War 2 came to an end, she was taken to some dunes in the Netherlands and executed a month before the war ended. (Submitted on June 10, 2025.)

5. Funeral Procession for Hannie Schaft and other resistance fighters
“Thousands gathered along the funeral pathway to the Bloemendaal cemetery of honor to salute Hannie Schaft and other resistance fighters who fell for the Homeland.” The funeral procession started at the Grote Kerk in Haarlem, approximately 5 kilometers to the east. The Bloemendaal cemetery is a Dutch Honorary cemetery reserved for the resistance members who were executed in the nearby dunes. She was the first of 347 to be interred there - she had originally been buried in a shallow unmarked grave at her execution site.
