1. Gustavus Adolphus College Marker
Swedish Lutheran immigrants founded this college in Redwing in 1862. 1863 it was moved to East Union, near Carver, where it was named St. Ansgar's Academy. With the completion of the "Old Main" building in 1876 at St. Peter, the school was finally moved here and re-named Gustavus Adolphus College. Classes were first held in this building Oct. 16, 1876. It was dedicated Oct. 31, 1876.
