1. Der Amberger Hochzeitsbrunnen / The Amberg Wedding Fountain Marker
In der tausendjährigen Geschichte der Stadt Amberg war die Hochzeit 1474 die prächtigste Feier, die hier jemals abgehalten wurde. Fünf Tage dauerten die Feierlichkeiten zur Vermählung des Herzogs Ludwig IX. von Bayern-Landshut. Mehr als 2000 edle Gäste – Fürsten, Bischöfe, Pfalzgrafen, Grafen und weitere Würdenträger des Reiches mit Gefolge – nahmen daran teil. Die vollplastische Figurengruppe umfasst vier Figuren. Das Brautpaar steht auf einem zylinderförmigen Sockel, der mit dem Amberger Stadtwappen geschmückt ist. Margarete zeigt stolz dem Betrachter ihren Hochzeitsring. Zwei Narren mit Degen und Trinkhorn, bekleidet mit Schellengewand und Eselsfell, umspielen das Hochzeitspaar. Der Amberger Hochzeitsbrunnen soll die Bürger und Besucher der Stadt an dieses wichtige Ereignis erinnern.

In the thousand-year history of the city of Amberg, the wedding in 1474 was the most magnificent celebration ever held here. The festivities for the marriage of Duke Ludwig IX of Bavaria-Landshut lasted five days. More than 2,000 noble guests – princes, bishops, counts palatine, counts, and other dignitaries of the empire with their entourages – took part. The fully sculpted group consists of four figures. The bridal couple stands on a cylindrical pedestal adorned with the Amberg city coat of arms. Margarete proudly shows her wedding ring to the viewer. Two jesters with swords and drinking horns, dressed in bell costumes and donkey skins, play around the bridal couple. The Amberg Wedding Fountain is meant to remind the citizens and visitors of the city of this important event.
