This Colonial Revival building, constructed in a variant style called Neo-Georgian, was one of many facilities constructed by the YMCA on army posts throughout the United States following the First World War to offer permanent services to troops. While operated by the YMCA, Building 318's facilities included a pool room, library, reading and writing room, snack bar, television, and a ballroom where weekly dances were held.

The exterior of Building 318 give little indication of the structure's use. However, careful observers will notice the faded letters over the doorway as well as a limestone plaque in the foundation with the engraving "YMCA" and the date "1926."
