Inscription.
Constructed in 1888 by the architect Willem Springer, this building served as the local police station for 128 years until its function was relocated in 2015. This historic building is one of the most famous landmarks of the Jordaan District; it was certified as a national monument in 2001.

Originally, there was a small gate in the city walls at this location, the Raampoort, which was demolished in 1844. The police station was built in 1888. Originally, the building was both a police station and an office for the neighbourhood secretary. After the neighbourhood secretariats were abolished in 1898, the entire building was put into use as a police station. In 1929, three adjacent plots in the Marnixstraat were incorporated into the police station. The Japanese designer furniture retailer 'Time & Style' opened a store in the building in 2017.
