Dairy Queen in Virginia Beach
The Maddox Family opened the first oceanfront Dairy Queen in Virginia Beach in 1949. We have continuously operated these stores for 66 years. This photo is of our Dairy Queen located at 5th and Atlantic (currently Waterman's), in 1955. This store was destroyed by the famous Ash Wednesday Storm 6-8, 1962. Many businesses and property's were lost to this storm before the National Flood Insurance Program was created thus not being insured for the loss.
We currently operate two locations on the oceanfront 27th and Atlantic and 17th and Atlantic. Three generations of the Maddox Family welcome you to our newly remodeled Grill and Chill and a little piece of Virginia Beach Oceanfront History.
