The Club commissioned this piece in a continuing effort to tell the story of women, notably Meshach's wife Mary, during the "Pioneer Era" of western Maryland. The inspiration of this art is the legacy of Mary and Meshach's descendants whose pursuits covered a wide variety of fields. These endeavors are represented by the icons found entwined in the branches of the Tree of Life springing forth from Mary.
