America's S.S. Victory Ships

"Ships for Victory"
S.S. Victory ships formed a critical maritime link to the theaters of war. These fast, large-capacity cargo carriers served honorably in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters of war.

All Hands On Deck
American men and women worked to build more than 500 Victory ships in shipyards all across the United States.

Only Three Remain
Today there are only three S.S. Victory ships still in existence - the S.S. American Victory, the S.S. Red Oak Victory and the S.S. Lane Victory. The S.S. Lane Victory is in San Pedro, CA.

S.S. Alhambra Victory
The S.S. Alhambra Victory was named to honor Alhambrans like Ensign John C. England who perished in the early days of World War II.

CalShip Delivers
The California Shipbuilding Corporation (aka CalShip) located in San Pedro built the S.S. Alhambra Victory and 130 other Victory ships.
