5. Willis MacDonald Memorial
"A large granite memorial to the late Dr. Willis Goss MacDonald, the noted physician and surgeon at Albany, was erected in Sego Sago park Monday. The total height of the monument with the figure is sixteen feet. The figure is life size and an excellent likeness." - Published in The Jefferson Courier and Schoharie County Chronicle on Thursday, May 13, 1915.
The Willis Goss MacDonald Memorial was dedicated on May 29, 1915 in Sego Sago park, which is today's Cobleskill Veterans Memorial Centre Park. The granite sculpture of MacDonald is eight feet tall, mounted atop a base of nine feet. The word MEMORIAM is incised on the stone, and a plaque below that has the following in raised lettering: IN MEMORY/OF/WILLIS GOSS MACDONALD/M.D. L.L.D./1862-1910. The stone statue depicts Dr. MacDonald standing with his right hand resting on a pedestal at his side. In his left hand he holds rolled documents. He is dressed in a tie, vest and knee-length jacket.
