2. Laila Schou Nilsen (Selskabet For Oslo Byes Vel). Excerpt (in translation):
Norway's most successful female athlete of all time lived in Grefsen her entire life. Laila Schou Nilsen broke through in the mid-1930s and dominated with great success. As a speed skater, she became Norwegian champion four times, won two world championships and set world records at all distances. Schou Nilsen had Olympic ambitions, and because speed skating was not on the program at the Olympic Games, she started with alpine skiing. During the 1936 Olympics, she was the best in downhill, and took a bronze medal in combined downhill and slalom. As a tennis player, she won 73 individual Norwegian championships and 11 team championships. She also managed to become Norwegian champion several times in both handball and rally. After an impressive career, Schou Nilsen could count 101 NM victories.(Submitted on July 1, 2025.)
