1. The Birger Marker
Inscription. This anchor is from the wreck of the Finnish sailing vessel 'Birger' which struck the Saltscar rock on 18th October 1898. Thirteen of the fifteen man crew, lost their lives. The anchor is a memorial to all mariners who perished off this coastline and was recovered by Cleveland Divers Club in 1999.

In memory of all seamen who have no known grave but the sea.
