Old Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery. . In 1838, Samuel Feagin, first postmaster and founder of Midway donated 6 acres of land to Micajah Stinson, Henry Barron and Simon Stinson as legal representatives of the Baptist Church at Fellowship for a public burying ground and school. Arthur Stripling, on the same day donated 2 acres which included a spring for the same purpose and use by the church. The church meeting house was located across the street. The cemetery is located on the old stage road which intersects the midway point between Tuskegee and Eufaula, thus the name "Midway." The first burials were of three Stinson infants in 1835, 1836 and 1839. (Continued on other side) , Reverse Side , The names of Feagin, Pruett, Taylor, King, Cameron, Dickson, Callaway, Bennett, Ford, Smith, Johnson, Pickett, Mosley, and Thomas buried here were early settlers of Midway and Barbour County. The earliest born in the cemetery was its donor, Samuel Thomas Feagin, born in 1782 in North Carolina, died 1848. Many of Midway's black citizens were buried here for many years. A black church was built in the back of the cemetery in the 1940's. Members of the Butts, Williams, Lampy, Smith, West, Jordan, Person, Foster and Walker families are buried in the cemetery and additional burials continued here until the early 1980's.
