Kolb's Battery
Kolb's battery under Capt. Reuben F. Kolb, was organized April 1862 at Eufaula, Alabama as part of the Barbour Light Artillery with the Army of Tennessee. It took part in the battles of Knoxville, Chickamauga, Chattanooga, Missionary Ridge, the Dalton-Atlanta Campaign, and Hood's movement into Tennessee, which included Allatoona Pass, Franklin and Nashville. Records of March 29, 1864 show the battery armed with two 6 lb smoothbores and two 12 lb howitzers. Kolb's Battery surrendered at Augusta, Georgia at the end of the war. Casualties in the war: 70 killed and wounded, 45 died of disease.
