Photo faces west. The Niagara River Parkway is in the left background.
Adam Beck generating stations now have 4 sources of water:
- The Chippawa-Queenston power canal, completed 1922 for Sir Adam Beck I
- Two tunnels, completed 1954 for Sir Adam Beck II. (These are the tunnels with the two giant emergency doors nearby). These are each 13.7 metres (45 ft) in diameter.
- This additional tunnel, completed 2013, as part of upgrades to Sir Adam Beck II. It is 12.7 metres (42 ft) in diameter.

3. Emergency Gate (for one of the two older 1950's diversion tunnels)
Unrelated to this new tunnel project (described by the marker): 250 and 400 metres south, the two older 1950's diversion tunnels each has an enormous emergency gate, that can drop by gravity, to block flow through the tunnel, in the event of emergency. This illustrates the proximity of the new tunnel to the two older tunnels; and its size. For scale: that frost fence is 3 m (10 ft) high.
