Inscription.
This horse drawn tool, part shovel, part wheel-less wheelbarrow, was pivotal in the construction of the Chenango Canal. The 97-mile-long canal ran along the Chenango River from 1837-1878, linking the Susquehanna River in Binghamton to the Erie Canal in Utica. The canal crossed the Green village center at Canal Street.

The Slip Scoop was gifted by Leon Vergason to the Greene Historical Society.
