1. The Greystone Compound
The Greystone Compound was originally a housing annex for the US Embassy in Monrovia, Liberia. During the Second Liberian Civil War it was used by as many as 20,000 people looking for refuge. In 2003 it was attacked by rebels, resulting in many deaths and casualties. The US Embassy building, dedicated in 2012, now stands on the majority of the space that was the Greystone Compound.
