1. James F. (Jimmy) Ewell Marker
Inscription. Norfolk native, started as batboy with 1934 Norfolk Tars, became trainer for Ray White’s Norfolk Club in 1938. In Navy Medical Corps 1941-45, then returned to Tars. 1949 promoted to Newark and then in mid-season to Yankees in time for World Series.

Trainer for Kansas City A’s from 1955-60, then handled start-up of expansion Houston Colt 45s. named to ‘60, ‘66, ‘68, ‘77 All Star teams and completed 18 years with Houston organization before retiring after 1978 season.

First man from medical field named to Tidewater Baseball Shrine.
