1. Sachs-Prudens Building Rehabilitation Marker

Inscription.
The Dayton Breweries Company remained active until the Prohibition Act of 1919. By 1920, the brewing company had sold all its properties, including the Sachs-Prudens building, and ended all operations. The building was used as a warehouse through the mid-twentieth century, eventually falling into disrepair by the 1980s. The building, however, remained standing as a reminder of a bygone era even as most other canal era buildings were razed, many as a result of mid-twentieth century urban renewal. The Sachs-Prudens building was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. It was subsequently rehabilitated in about 1991, and has remained an integral part of the historic fabric of Dayton long after other canal buildings were removed.
