Ida and Friedrich Weiner came as refugees from Vienna to Norway in May 1939. Due to their advanced age, they were both given shelter at the Jewish Home for the Elderly at Holbergsgate 21 in Oslo. However, during the campaign against the Jews in Norway in the autumn of 1942, they did not escape. Friedrich was arrested on 26 October and deported the following month on the ship Donau. He was killed in Auschwitz on 1 December of the same year. Ida was at that time hospitalized in Oslo. From here she was arrested on 23 February 1943 and transferred to Bredtveit Prison. Two days later she was deported on the ship Gotenland to Stettin, and from there, via Berlin, to the Auschwitz extermination camp. Upon arrival at the camp on 3 March, Ida Weiner was sent straight to the gas chamber and killed.(Submitted on July 27, 2025.)
