Regarding DeCou House Monument c. 1812. This stone house was built around 1808. It was occupied until 1942. It was destroyed by fire in 1950. In 2011, Thorold acquired the property and fixed it up as a park exhibit.

The original family name DeCou has more recently been spelled DeCew.
