1. Gen. Andrew Jackson's Fort Deposit Marker
Inscription. Gen. Andrew Jackson marched his army of over 2,000 Tennesseans through this area in October of 1813 enroute to fight hostile Creek warriors known as Red Sticks. Jackson recruited local Cherokee warriors including members of the Brown and Gunter families.

Jackson constructed Fort Deposit at nearby Street's Bluff to hold food and supplies transported via the Tennessee River. When supplies failed to arrive, he ordered a spur road built north to the mills on the Flint River, crossing the river at what later became Deposit Ferry Landing. The spur road joined the road south and became part of the main supply route for his troops.

Eventually Fort Deposit moved to the north bank of the Tennessee River at Deposit Ferry Landing.
