Inscription. Joshua McCarty Simpson writes and sings his first poem at the Abolition School near Big Bottom in Morgan County. Robert West Speer of New Concord, begins his record of fugitive slaves received and forwarded. He records 77 individuals from 1842 to 1856 that he assists on the road to freedom.
