A Mission of Service
TVA was created to serve the public, to make life better for the people of the Tennessee Valley region. It's our goal to make our region the best in the country in which to live, work and play. To that end, we are tasked with serving the Tennessee Valley by providing its energy, protecting its environment and stoking economic development. Balancing these life essentials is what makes us unique amoung power companies in the United States - indeed, in the world.

We generate reliable, low-cost power sold to you by your local power company. We safeguard the environment and manage the beautiful Tennessee River watershed. And we support economic development activity so there are plenty of high paying jobs to go around in our region.

Powering Your Life
TVA has evolved in the way it views its role as a steward for our region. Today, we make power with facilities that make the air cleaner, reducing our reliance on coal plants to meet power demand, and using nuclear and gas-powered plants with lower emissions to keep carbon out of the air you breathe.

We work with power distributors and directly

Our generation portfolio includes more renewable power sources like the hyrdological system you're view now, as well as power generated from the sun, wind and methane gas.
