River Rock in Fort Collins in Larimer County, Colorado — The American Mountains (Southwest)
Old Poudre Valley Creamery Laboratory Building
Constructed in 1964, the building was designed in the mid-20th century Googie Style of architecture. This style emerged from Southern California around that time, and was commonly used on small to medium-sized buildings, which were meant to attract the eye with their unusual shapes and bright colors. Prominent on this building are its V-shape ("upswept") cantilevered roof exposed roof beams rectangular decorative wall that projects above the roof, and the use of painted concrete blocks that look like large bricks. To top it off, the building was oriented on a 30-degree diagonal in relation to the standard north-south compass points.
