1. Christian Balsley Memorial
Christian Balsley, a Revolutionary War soldier, and his wife Anna Elizabeth Coiner were the founders of the Balsley family of Virginia. They came from Pennsylvania in 1790 to settle here in Sherando. Their graves, along with many members of their immediate family who died prior to 1870, are located about one mile southeast of Lyndhurst, east side of Back Creek on the old Jackson Farm, at the site of the old Methodist church. Burial markers were removed after the Jacksons sold the land, but the graves remained. This memorial dedicated to their memory is presented by the descendants of Christian and Elizabeth.
