1. Raymond Hermes Log Barn Marker
Inscription. This original log barn last stood on the Raymond Hermes Farm near Bolsiner Road, Salem Township, Ottawa County. It was donated to the Sandusky County Agricultural Society by the Toledo Area Catholic Diocese, who inherited the Hermes place.

The building, built in the mid 1800's and used to house small farm animals, was dismantled in the fall of 1984 by Elmer Miarer, Bill Amor, Al Leitenberger, Bob Fara Baugh, Wayne Smith and brought to this site where it was reconstructed in 1985.

It is twenty six by fourteen feet and made of oak and poplar logs, (some of which had to be replaced).

The door heights were increased from four to seven feet and the porch roof was added. Otherwise it is original.

About, 270 man hours have been spent on this project.

Spaces between the logs in Ohio barns were seldom filled or "chinked."
