1. Pole Barn Marker
This pole barn was built in 1943 to store and protect farm machinery. The roof is original and now shelters equipment that was once used to maintain the Roberts' orange grove. A small grove had already been planted here when Robert Roberts acquired the land from Charles W. Garner in 1914. Considered to be one of the oldest groves in Collier County, some of the trees growing here are descendants of those original orange trees.
Robert Roberts gradually expanded his grove operations and was fortunate enough to have his citrus crop survive the devastating statewide freeze in 1962.
