Cook’s House
Cleaning house, cooking for the family and hired hands, canning, smoking meat, carrying water, sewing, washing and mending clothes, gardening, tending to the sick, and minding the children and grandchildren, were just some of the daily chores done by Mrs. Roberts and her daughters. When Robert Roberts expanded his cattle business in the 1930s, more help was needed.

This simple wooden building was used by Mary, an African-American woman who was employed by the Roberts family as a cook for about three years. The building later became a storage shed.
