1. Butterfield Stagecoaches Marker
Inscription. Butterfield Stagecoaches followed the Southern Emigrant Trail into Temecula from September 1858 to March 1861. They stopped at an adobe store once located not far from this location. This store was run by John Magee and served as Temecula's first post office. The stagecoaches carried passengers and mail on journeys lasting 22 days between Missouri and San Francisco They came from the east, by way of Warner's Ranch, Oak Grove, and Aguanga. From the north, they traveled through Lake Elsinore and Murrieta.
