Inscription.
Alanson Dietz (1849 - 1932) was an ingenious inventor and entrepreneur who moved his bottling business from East Worcester, NY, to Guilderland Center in 1873. In early 1885, he built barns and a bottling facility on this site. By May of 1885, he began distributing soda, sarsaparilla, ginger ale, seltzer and birch beer to his customers in Knowersville. He died in 1932. His buildings and home were torn down in the early 1960’s and a tennis court was built on the site. In 2010, the village dedicated the park to the Schilling Family, particularly to longtime resident Phyllis K. Schilling. Phyllis was a former Village Trustee and a dedicated advocate for the preservation of green spaces in the village. (Marker Number 17.)
