Inscription. Crume Drug Store has been in operation as a dispenser of drugs for over 150 years, located in this quarter of a block. Its owner for the first 53 years was David S. Wood. He was joined in 1900 by its second owner, J. Robert Crume, who ran the store for 50 years. He compounded his own medicines and elixirs, before the days of modern medicine, very successfully. As medicine advanced so did the store. It was moved to its present location of the block in 1984 by Phil Bowling. The building in which it is now located was operated for many years as a buggy shop. The second floor was used for storage, and buggies could be brought down by a rope operated elevator.
