Jordan Apple Works. By the 1870s, farms were switching from grain/cattle production to the more lucrative fruit cultivation. Clark Snure, a local businessman, saw this trend and established "Jordan Apple Works" on this site. The products, barrels of dried fruits, jams, jellies, cider and cider vinegar were shipped throughout Ontario and as far distant as Britain. By the 1920s, another trend occured - an increase in grape acreage. Similarly, Archibald Haines and Wm Aikens saw an opportunity and established the Jordan Wine Company. Initially successful, it later passed through a series of several owners and ultimately closed. In 1990 Len Pennachetti secured the property and launched his Cave Springs Cellar Winery. The complex was remodelled into a restaurant, inn, winery and numerous boutiques, bringing renewed life to Jordan Village.
