A rain garden is a vegetated area designed to receive storm-water runoff, accompanying pollutants, and nutrients, through landscaping, soil preparation, and plant selection suitable for wet conditions. This rain garden has an underlying layer of a special soil mixture that increases the absorption of contaminants. It was installed in June of 2014.
