1. Governor’s Residence Marker
The Wellington District Gaol was constructed in 1839-40, and was one of the first public buildings in the City of Guelph. The accompanying Governor’s Residence was designed by architect W.A. Mahoney and constructed by G.A., Scroggie in 1911. The Governor's Residence has been home to gaol surgeons, physicians, governors, matrons and turnkeys. This modern work space is now home to economic development and will serve the delivery of county services for many years.
