Inscription. Designed by W.A. Mahoney and built by G.A. Scroggie in 1911. Utilized stone from 1839- octagonal jail built by William Day and designed by Toronto architect Thomas Young. Segment of original stone wall of exercise yard survives in south west corner of building.
