Fratelli Biviano
[English translation of Italian text:]
We are Sandro and Marco Biviano, two disabled brothers from Lipari. From July 23, 2013, to June 20, 2015, we lived and fought continuously in this square, protesting to the bitter end to defend the right to health and dignity. We are returning physically to our loved ones, but we remain here to remind you to love life, because in life you never give up. Whatever your battle, with respect for all, never stop fighting for your rights and those of your loved ones, because the truly disabled are those who refuse to know and act. We have learned one thing: We cannot pretend to change institutions unless we first change as a people. Only with humility, dignity and honor can we make a difference.

1. World FSHD Day. World FSHD Day, observed annually on June 20, is held to raise awareness of facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD), a common form of muscular dystrophy.
Excerpt: "The first World FSHD Day was celebrated on June 20, 2016. Three years earlier, brothers Marco and Sandro Biviano traveled from their home on Lipari, Italy to Rome to advocate for better access to medical care. After 700 days of demonstrations, the Biviano brothers convinced the Italian government to fund a telemedicine system and home care for Italian citizens living with FSHD. In addition, the Italian government designated June 20th FSHD Day. This date honors the birthday of the Biviano siblings mother."(Submitted on September 18, 2025, by Sean P.
