Chattanooga in Hamilton County, Tennessee — The American South (East South Central)
In Honor of the Chosin Few Combatants of the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir
North Korea November & December 1950
Inscription.
15,000 Marines, Army, Navy, Air Force, British Royal Marines & South Koreans successfully fought ten divisions of Chinese & North Koreans in the most severe blizzard of 100 years, destroying 8 divisions & rendering 2 divisions ineffective. This national veteran's group is the recipient of 17 Medals of Honor, 70 Navy Crosses, plus many other distinguished service medals. The most medals ever given for any single U.S. military battle. Historians record this as the most violent battle of modern warfare in American military history. We are an eternal band of brothers, bonded in the blood of a forgotten battle, in a forgotten war. The cost of joining our ranks is beyond all earthly wealth.
Erected 2005 by Lookout Mountain, Tennessee Valley Chapter of the Chosin Few.
