In 1951, American Illustrator Norman Rockwell was commissioned by Henry Ford Il to illustrate a calendar to commemorate Ford Motor Company's upcoming 50th anniversary. In this scene from the calendar, Henry Ford works on his first motor car, the Quadricycle, while his wife Clara watches.

Henry Ford raced his car Sweepstakes for the first and only time in Grosse Pointe, Michigan on October 10, 1901. After he won the race, investors came forward with offers of financial support, helping him to establish the Ford Motor Company in June, 1903.
