"The land sloped from the north and rose to the south, and the village lay along the valley. There was only one street and that was the riverfront. There was a board sidewalk running along in front to the buildings to the Bailey house, which was the farthest north on the hill"
—George Kerr, who was born in the village of Crow Wing

This replica boardwalk was constructed to help you imagine walking through the old town of Crow Wing. The original boardwalk was actually a resource management effort, since the sandy soil of this glacial sand plain made walking difficult and erosion easy.

Our replica boardwalk is placed on top of an accessible walking trail. The trail was surfaced to allow easier access and to limit the area where people walk through this important historic site. Please help us preserve the town site and the rest of the park by staying on the trails.
