(Side one)
To the sacred memory of the Confederate soldiers who lay their lives on the sacrificial altar of their country, they were defeated by an overwhelming foe, but not conquered. The righteousness of their cause, states rights, will be vindicated by posterity.
(Side two)
Calm and noble and peace, courageous and chivalrous in war, true to the best traditions of the South, the Confederate soldier lives enshrined it in the hearts of his grateful countrymen.
(Side three)
Erected 1922 under the auspices of Ann White Chapter United Daughters of the Confederacy, assisted by the Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, and Citizens of Rock Hill, S. C.
(Side four)
Greater wars, perhaps the world has known,
The fields of Glory with her best blood strewn,
But never legion strong, or valiant clan,
Had cause more just, more firmly held,
then our patriots true, who wore the gray.
Live on, and fadeless memory,
Oh loyal knighthood of the fairest land
That ever suffered to blight and wrong.
Erected 1922 by Ann White Chapter United Daughters of the Confederacy, Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, Citizens of Rock Hill, S.C.
