1. John Wesley Powell Boat Marker
This boat is an exact replica of the boat used by John Wesley Powell in his historic voyage through the Grand Canyon.
In 1869, Powell and his intrepid crew managed to survive the rapids in the Grand Canyon of the Colorado by lining and portaging their boats around treacherous rapids.
In 1984, Daniel T. Majetic and his intrepid crew of the Colorado River Boatman managed to survive the same rapids by courage, skill, and daring. In the making of the original epic 1984 film, Grand Canyon: The Hidden Secrets, and in the current Grand Canyon: Rivers of Time film, these men ran every rapid in the Grand Canyon in this very boat.
