The Easter Rising Monument
To all who yearn for freedom and peace behold this monument
Take to heart the meaning of this stone, now rededicated and gloriously crowned not with a symbol of conflict and domination but with a harp, a symbol of thoughtfulness, of contemplation, of Ireland.
In remembrance and with thanks to those who by signing the Proclamation of the Irish Republic on April 24, 1916, affixed their names to this monument, those who by dying for the cause of freedom on April 1916 have also affixed their names to this monument and to those who are unnamed, who by their sacrifices, some without a word of praise, we rededicate this site.
Crowned with the harp upon a stone etched with the names of the sixteen who were executed for their part in the Rising, with seven lilies to represent the seven who signed the Proclamation, with thirty-two strings and spaces to symbolize a united Ireland, by this site honor all from every nation who sacrificed in the cause of freedom and challenge those who cherish freedom to pursue it always.
