Patrolman John A. Hahn was one of the original 55 patrolmen when the Nassau County Police Department was formed on April 16, 1925. Within this inaugural group, eleven officers including Patrolman Hahn were designated as motorcycle officers (the others were assigned to foot patrol). Just five months after the departments inception, Patrolman Hahn was the first patrolman to die in the line of duty while serving Nassau County. His motorcycle collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Stewart Avenue and Washington Avenue in Garden City on September 24, 1925.(Submitted on October 6, 2025, by Ian Lefkowitz of New York, New York.)
