Xenia Township in Oldtown in Greene County, Ohio — The American Midwest (Great Lakes)
Memorial to Tecumtha (Tecumseh)
Erected in 1931 by William A. Galloway, M.D.
This impressive stone tablet is written in an antique form of the Shawnee language and translated into English. The inscription honors Tecumseh and his military legacy. It also attributes his birthplace to be right here in "Old Chillicothe." However, Tecumseh's birthplace remains a topic of scholarly debate. Some claim he was born in Pe'kwa (near modern-day Springfield) or one of several Shawnee towns near modern-day Chillicothe.
Erected 2024 by Great Council State Park.
