Inscription.
The west part of the near 1920 garage extended the domestic work area for washing and boiling clothes, summer cooking, milk separating, and possibly food preserving and soap-making. Thus it kept the main house cooler and cleaner in the summer. This well house area has a deep cistern underneath and an early picture indicates a windmill overhead. The center of the garage served as a garage, and the east part housed chickens at one time. The chickens along with the turkeys from the orchard roamed the yard freely during the day. The nearby orchard, garden, grape arbor, and bee hives all added to the progressive 1910's farm lifestyle.
