George Earl Guinn became the fifth president of Louisiana College in 1951 and served until 1975. Born in Mossville, Mississippi, he graduated from Louisiana College in 1937. Guinn earned a doctorate in theology from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. As President, he improved faculty credentials and initiated racial integration. The college built a student center, a President's residence, Warner cottage, Richard W. Norton Memorial Library, Tudor Hall dormitory, Weathersby Fine Arts Building, Cavanaugh Hall, and H.O. West Physical Education Building. Guinn's devotion to wisdom and worship was honored in the construction of the Guinn Auditorium and Religious Education Center. This multi-purpose facility opened in 1973. Earl Guinn's unbounded intellect, tireless energy, laborious travels, and firm advocacy for his alma mater produced a legacy of unparalleled excellence.
